The COAS explained that his constant visit to military troops in the North-East is meant to boost the troops’ morale and reassure them that the Commander in Chief of The Armed Forces is aware of their gallant efforts in the fight against insurgency in the country.
“The essence is to reassure the troops of the president’s commitment to their warfare. To hear from the troops and their commanders. What do they have as an issues. What they want us to discuss, patterning their logistics and equipment needed in the counter insurgency war”.
He, however, assured the troops that President Muhammadu Buhari would provide the resources needed to execute the counter insurgency war to a logical conclusion.
While reacting to the recent Boko Haram attacks on military formations in the North-East, The COAS said: “Well, in military operation, it is a duel. We have defeated Boko Haram severally. Despite the lost of some equipment, we were never defeated. I can assure you that we will overcome them no matter what happened”.
“We will take on Boko Haram decisively and we are committed to the focus of the entire operation which is the total elimination of Boko Haram insurgents from Nigeria”, Attahiru said.
