The hope of Uwokwu community to enjoy electricity in the yuletide (Xmas) was on Monday dashed as Hon Samson Okwu, the member representing Oju/Obi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives who promised to provide the light disclosed that the purported contractor handling project returned the contract agreement paper.
Our Correspondent learnt that the contractor returned the letter on the complaint that the contract was undervalued
It would be recalled that exactly one year today, Rt Hon Samson Okwu disclosed that he had injected N50 million into the ongoing rural electrification project in Uwokwu community on Oju Local government Area of Benue state as his constituency.
He said the amount was to mobilize the contractor back to site noting that the project is one of the constituency projects embarked upon towards the end of his second term.
Okwu who disclosed this in an interview with our Correspondent then in Abuja shortly after he was sworn as the member representing the constituency said that now that he back to the throne, the project will be one of his priorities.
“ I directed the contractor handling the project to as a matter of urgency give the contract the needed attention for the good people of the community to enjoy power supply like their nieghbours..
While thanking the people of Igede nation for the mandate given to him, the former House Committee Chairman on Airforce, said this is the beginning of good things to happen to Igede nation.
.The Uwokwu community which host three council wards out of the eleven council wards in the local government has been the only community without power supply in the two local government of Igede nation.
It will be recalled that the project was launched sometime in April, 2018 at Ebenta one of the villages in the community.
