Dogara

ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi

A youth group, under the auspices of Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Bogoro Youth Development Foundation, has described the ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara as their political party.

NATIONAL ACCORD had reported that Dogara who represents Dass/Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, recently dumped the People’s Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.

In a letter of resignation from the PDP which he addressed to the Chairman of the PDP Bogoro ‘C’ Ward, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi state dated 24th July, 2020, Dogara, said he was resigning his membership of the ruling party in the state because governor Bala Mohammed was making the same mistakes the former governor made which led to his defeat in the 2019 election in the state.

He raised six issues of unfulfillment of campaign promises, mismanagement of resources, lack of respect to elders and traditional rulers in the state, in his letter.

Chairman of the group, Engr. Emmanuel Isheni and the Secretary who stated this at a press conference on Monday at the NUJ Secretariat, said they are ready to move with him to any political party he chooses to defect to.

He said that the Sen. Bala Mohammed led Bauchi State Government has shown unequivocally no concern to the interest of the masses and Youths development by his leadership style.

Isheni alleged that the group had it on record that some “non-performing politicians” paid some youths N1,500 each to stage a protest/rally on 28th July, 2020 against Rt. Hon. Dogara Yakubu at the Government House Bauchi for reasons which do not hold any water which made the protest/rally unsuccessful.

He also alleged that the same people hired “thugs” and held a press conference on 4th August, 2020 at the Zaranda Hotel against the defection of Rt Hon. Dogara Yakubu from PDP to APC.

He said: “Owing to the recent happenings of the defection of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria, we want to make it clear that we stand with Rt. Hon. Dogara as our party. “Anywhere he goes, we go.

“We want to tell the good people of Tafawa Balewa/Dass/Bogoro Federal Constituency, Bauchi State and Nigeria at large, that we know those ill politicians who do not want our peace and progress as a people, those mischief politicians are politically dead but they don’t want to go down alone that is why they want to malign our great leader Rt. Hon. Dogara Yakubu.

“Rt. Hon. Dogara Yakubu, is the present phase and icon of our contemporary politics. He is an undisputed political leader, a rare type of whom we have few of his equal in the political arena of our nation.”

He stated that Dogara understands the rudiments of Tafawa Balewa/Dass/Bogoro, Bauchi State and Nigeria politics as a whole.

He described a nationalist, Visionary Leader with clear foresight Rt Hon Dogara Yakubu is respected all over the world, whose qualities cannot be fully captured with words.

The group Chairman said the people of Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Bogoro Federal Constituency and Bauchi State has witnessed many projects and developments which was brought by Dogara.

According to him, some of the projects include several Youths and women empowerment programs, Road constructions, construction of schools, teaching and learning facilities.

He added that Dogara single handedly sponsored the bill for the establishment of North East Development Commission and many more.

Isheni said: “The magnanimity of Rt. Hon. Dogara Yakubu, encompass those that know him and those who do not. He has proved to us beyond reasonable doubt that he is a reliable leader who carried everyone along irrespective of tribe, religion affiliation and geographical location.

“At this junction, we want to make it categorically clear that, we the Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Bogoro Youth Development Foundation, are firmly behind him and we pledge our support to him at all ramifications.”
