Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina,
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The anti-graft agency announced the development in a wanted notice shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to assist with information that could lead to Maina’s arrest.
According to the notice, “The public is hereby notified that ABDULRASHEED ABDULLAHI MAINA, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties.”
The EFCC said Maina is 61 years old and an indigene of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Commission appealed to members of the public with useful information on his whereabouts to report to any of its offices across the country or contact the agency through its dedicated channels.
It stated: “Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies.”
The wanted notice was signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
Maina, a former senior public official, has faced several corruption-related investigations and court cases over the years, particularly in connection with the management of pension funds. The latest declaration by the EFCC marks another step in the Commission’s efforts to locate him for investigation and possible prosecution over the new allegation.
The EFCC has repeatedly urged Nigerians to support its fight against corruption by providing credible information that will aid the arrest of suspects wanted for financial and economic crimes.
The Commission said public cooperation remains vital to strengthening accountability, protecting public resources and ensuring that those accused of criminal offences are brought before the courts in line with the law.
