The suspected Internet fraudsters were paraded by the EFCC in Ilorin, Kwara State
By EZEKIEL OBI, Abuja –
No fewer than 140 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as yahoo boys, have been arrested by the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ikorodu Area of Lagos State.
The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr. Uwujaren explained that the suspects were arrested in separate sting operations at popular hotels in Ikorodu, following credible intelligence on their involvement in internet-related fraud.
Uwujaren, however, stated that four of the suspects were released after the EFCC discovered that no incriminating item was in their possession.
He listed the items recovered from other suspects to include exotic cars, electronic devices, laptops, and mobile phones, adding that they would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
