Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Giwa, held a strategic conference with senior police officers of the Command as part of measures to strengthen security and public safety during the Ember Months and the approaching festive period.
The conference actor to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, was aimed at reviewing the Command’s security strategies and ensuring effective coordination of policing operations across the State.
The CP described the Ember Months as a critical period requiring heightened vigilance, strategic policing actions, intelligence-led operations and proactive deployment of personnel to prevent crime and maintain public order. He directed all operational supervisory officers to strengthen intelligence gathering, surveillance, visibility patrols, stop-and-search operations and other crime-prevention measures within their areas of responsibility.
CP Giwa also directed the officers to sustain close engagement with communities and other stakeholders, while upholding professionalism, respect for human rights and strict adherence to the law.
He assured residents and visitors that the Command remains fully prepared to safeguard lives and property throughout the Ember Months, stressing that security during the period is a shared responsibility requiring sustained collaboration between the Police, communities and other stakeholders.
Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Formations, Tactical and Operational Units and other Sections of the Command attended the interactive conference.
