Funeral prayer for late Bamanga Tukur
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Sunday joined Africa’s richest businessman, Aliko Dangote, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Abubakar Dantsoho, and other dignitaries for the funeral prayers of late elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, in Yola.
Fintiri disclosed this in a post on his official X account on Sunday, saying the funeral prayers, held at the Lamido’s Palace in Yola, were attended by eminent Nigerians and citizens from across the country who came to pay their last respects to the former governor of the defunct Gongola State.
The governor wrote: “Today, alongside @AlikoDangote, Abubakar Dantsoho (MD, NPA), dignitaries, and citizens from across Nigeria, I joined the funeral prayers for our late elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, at the Lamido’s Palace in Yola.”
Fintiri described the late Tukur, who held the traditional title of Tafida Adamawa, as a remarkable leader whose contributions to the development of Gongola and Adamawa states would continue to be remembered.
According to him, “Tafida Adamawa leaves behind a tremendous legacy of leadership in Gongola and Adamawa States.”
He also offered prayers for the repose of the late statesman and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. My prayers remain with his family and loved ones,” the governor added.
The late Bamanga Tukur, a former governor of the defunct Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died at the age of 90 and was laid to rest in Yola on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
