Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed
BauchI state Governor, Bala Mohammed has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal road accident that claimed the lives of seven journalists from Gombe State along Billiri–Kumo Road.
The victims, who included five staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and two other media practitioners, were on their way to Gombe from wedding ceremony of their colleague.
Governor Mohamned described the accident as heartbreaking and a great loss not only to the media industry but to the entire North-East region and the nation at large. He noted that journalists play a vital role in strengthening democracy, promoting unity, and informing society, making their sudden deaths deeply painful.
As a journalist by profession and a close neighbour to Gombe State, Governor Mohammed commiserated with the Government and people of Gombe State, the management and staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at both national and Gombe State levels, as well as the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
The governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and asked Almighty Allah to grant their families the strength and fortitude to bear the great loss. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
