Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting on October 6 in Abuja as Nigeria enters the final 100 days to the first ballot of the 2027 General Election.
The commission disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Wednesday, saying the event will bring together political parties, the media, security agencies, civil society organisations, religious leaders, development partners, members of the diplomatic community and other key stakeholders.
According to INEC, the meeting will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and attendance will be strictly by invitation.
The commission said the event would be addressed by its Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, who will engage Nigerians and stakeholders on the level of preparations for the 2027 General Election.
INEC stated: “As preparations intensify for the 2027 General Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) invites political parties, the media, security agencies, civil society organisations, religious leaders, development partners, the diplomatic community and other stakeholders to a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders Meeting marking the 100-day milestone to the first ballot.”
The commission added: “The event will be addressed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, and will provide an opportunity to engage Nigerians and key stakeholders on preparations for the 2027 General Election.”
The stakeholders’ meeting is expected to provide updates on the commission’s readiness, strengthen collaboration with critical partners and reinforce public confidence in the electoral process ahead of the nationwide polls.
The 2027 General Election is expected to be one of Nigeria’s most significant democratic exercises, with INEC continuing consultations with stakeholders as part of efforts to deliver a peaceful, transparent and credible election.
