The late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, died in an air crash, Friday evening, May 21, 2021, alongside 11 other people on a trip to Kaduna

The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has over the weekend postponed its security meeting scheduled for Monday, May 24, 2021 in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru who lost his life in a plane crash with 10 other officers.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the the Chairman of the commission, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said: “The commission decided to postpone the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting originally scheduled for Monday, 24th May, 2021, because of the national tragedy of the plane crash that occurred last Friday 21st May, which sadly claimed the lives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other officers”.
Açcording to him, the Chief of Army Staff and other service chiefs are members of ICCES.
The commission prayed to God to accept the souls of the departed and give their respective families and our country the fortitude to bear this unfortunate and monumental loss.
