The Secretary to the state government, Mohammed Baba stated this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday night.
He explained that the action was in view of the time-table for the local government council elections released by the State Independent Election Commission.
He said the dissolution was carried out to provide level playing ground for the contestants.
“Following the release of the timetable for the forthcoming local government councils elections in the state and in compliance with guidelines issued by the State Independent Electoral Commission for the provision of 30 days’ notice to all candidates, who wish to participate in the election the governor has approved the dissolution of all the chairmen with immediate effect.
“The governor directed the outgoing Chairmen to hand over the affairs of the LGAs to heads of administrations,” he stated.
Baba said that the governor thanked the Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen and Councillors for their meritorious services rendered to the state and prayed for success in their future endeavours.
