The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has trained no fewer than 50 persons for the 2021 Post Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (Post-SADTS) in Sokoto.
This training, according to NDE is to help beneficiaries identify value addition in the agricultural sector.
Post-SADTS is one of the many ways by which NDE strives towards engaging unemployed youths of Nigeria in line with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda of lifting millions of unemployed youths out of poverty.
Speaking in a welcome address, the acting HoD of NDE Rural Promotion Department (REP), Malama Falmatu Hassan, said the programme would not only help in improving the quality of the lives of the beneficiaries but would also impact positively on the society in general.
In a keynote address, The Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fipko, who was represented by the Sokoto State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs Eunice Danmallam, assured that the training would promote high productivity in the agricultural business chain.
Mrs. Fipko who noted that all the 50 beneficiaries are graduates of NDE Sustainable Agricultural Developmet Training Scheme (SADTS), also appealed to Nigerians to support NDE towards addressing unemployment.
“The Post-SADTS training will help probide agricultural skills, probide employment, remove drudgery from the practice of agriculture, encourage youths to embrace agriculture as a means of livelihood, expand their sources of income as well as enhance the quality of their lives”.
Appreciating the NDE on behalf of other participant, a beneficiary of the programme, Mr. Shehu Sambo, said majority of them have started utilizing the provious trainings given to them by the NDE, hence the need to continually appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for this initiative.
