PATRICK ABANG Calabar –
The Cross River State Chapter of The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) on Monday pleged to reposition the educational system in the state in order to ensure that teachers have a better future.
The State Chairman, Comrade Olayi Gregory gave the assurance shortly after been elected at the 22nd (7th) State Quaolrennnial at Ikom Local Government Area.
According to him, “My victory was a divine will of God and would operate an inclusive administration so that everyone is given opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of the union”.
Comrade Olayi said: “I am aware of the challenges confronting our dear union and hope to address them squarely”.
“Today we reaffirm our determination to work with one another across the state to realize the union vission and purpose for the development of the state”
Earlier in his remarks, the outgoing State Chairman, Comrade Ubi Ibiang Onum, observed the numerous achievement recorded in the past four years of his administration to include establishment of Teachers Multi purpose Cooperative Society which he said has improved the welfare of teachers.
The theme of the conference was “Restoring the Dignity of Teaching Profession in Nigeria.
