Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated the Hausa community across Nigeria on the occasion of International Hausa Day, commending the ethnic group for its enduring contributions to the country’s unity, economic growth and cultural heritage.
In a goodwill message released on Thursday as the Hausa community marked the celebration in Daura, Katsina State, Obi described the event as a fitting opportunity to honour the rich traditions and achievements of one of Nigeria’s largest ethnic nationalities.
According to him, the Hausa people have continued to play a vital role in Nigeria’s development through their enterprise, agriculture, scholarship, public service and commitment to community development.
“As International Hausa Day, I warmly congratulate the Hausa community across Nigeria as they observe their Day in Daura, Katsina State. The Hausa people have made significant and lasting contributions to the growth and development of our nation, enriching Nigeria through their culture, traditions, enterprise, agriculture, scholarship, public service, and dedication to community.”
Obi noted that the celebration goes beyond recognising cultural identity, saying it also provides an opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen national unity by appreciating the unique contributions of every ethnic group.
“This celebration is not only a moment to honor a proud heritage but also an opportunity to reaffirm the bonds that unite us as Nigerians. Our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths, and our shared future depends on recognizing and respecting the contributions of every community.”
The former Anambra State governor also extended his best wishes to participants gathered in Katsina State, expressing hope that the occasion would promote peace, prosperity and renewed optimism across the country.
“As you celebrate in Katsina, I wish you peace, prosperity, and a renewed sense of hope. May this occasion bolster our unity and inspire us to build a Nigeria where every citizen, regardless of ethnicity or background, has equal opportunities to flourish.”
Obi concluded his message by congratulating the Hausa community and wishing them a successful International Hausa Day celebration.
