Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa
Ondo State Government has denied reports claiming that a man recently arrested over alleged possession of illicit drugs and firearms is an aide to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
The government described the claim as false and said the suspect has no connection with the governor’s administration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the government said the viral report and image had wrongly identified the suspect as one of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s aides.
According to the statement, “The attention of the Ondo State Government has been drawn to a trending report and image claiming that an ‘Ondo Governor’s Aide’ has been arrested over alleged possession of illicit drugs and firearms.”
The government dismissed the claim, insisting that the young man is not an appointee of the state government.
“For the record, the young man in the report is not an aide to His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. He holds no political appointment in this administration,” the statement added.
The state government also called on the Nigeria Police Force to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that justice is served in line with the law.
It stated, “We urge the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that due process is followed in accordance with the law.”
The statement was signed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, and dated September 15, 2026.
