One of the houses destroyed by the rainstorm

Not fewer than 50 houses were destroyed as a result of heavy downpour in some parts of Nasarawa State.
Many houses and property worth millions were submerged by flood, while others were completely destroyed by a heavy windstorm.
In Akwanga town, the headquarters of Akwanga Local Government Area, residents of Hayin Mada community, Angwan Kandom and other areas were completely sacked by flood on Friday evening.

Similarly, houses and property were destroyed as a result of a heavy down pour accompanied by strong wind/thunderstorm in Wayo-Mati, in Wamba Local Government Area of the state.
Motorists were left stranded as the flood also submerged the bridge along Wamba road, Akwanga, the road connecting the two local government headquarters.
Reacting, a resident of Hayin Mada in Akwanga and victim of the flood, Hon Happy Wamba, said the flooding pulled down their fence, a house and affected several houses.

The councillor of Akwanga West electoral ward, Hon Haliru Giwa, said over 20 houses were affected by the heavy flood in Hayin Mada, Angwan Kandom and other locations in his ward.
Giwa, whose personal residence was also affected, called on both local and state governments to assist the flood victims, because according to him, some off them were displaced.
The former Executive Chairman of Wamba Local Government Area, Alhaji Musa Wayo, confirmed that several houses were destroyed in his electoral ward of Wayo.
According to him, not less 30 houses were blown off by windstorm, while several families scampered for safety during the rain.
Meanwhile, no life was claimed by the unfortunate incidents according to eye witnesses.
