A pastor and another person were killed on Sunday morning while on their way to church at Dorowa Babuje in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident was among a series of attacks reported in parts of Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
According to reports, the two victims were travelling to church when they were attacked at Dorowa Babuje.
Their identities were yet to be disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
The latest killings came barely hours after five passengers travelling to Gana-Ropp in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area were reportedly killed in a separate attack.
The Pyem Youth Leader in Gana-Ropp, Ukasha Garaba, confirmed the incident, saying the victims were travelling to the area as labourers.
“We evacuated the corpses of five persons from Gana-Ropp. They were passengers who were travelling as labourers,” Garaba said.
Also confirming the incident, the National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association, Bulus Dabit, called for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
In a separate incident in Riyom Local Government Area, a woman was reportedly killed at Baten Wereng on Saturday night, while another person was killed at Ratyidi in Fan District.
The Berom Youth Moulders spokesman, Rwang Tengwong, condemned the attacks and called for increased security presence in the affected communities.
He also urged security agencies to investigate the incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
The fresh attacks have heightened concerns over the security situation in parts of Barkin Ladi, Riyom and neighbouring communities.
