The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it is not responsible for the hunger and economic hardship facing Nigerians, urging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop blaming the opposition.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said this in a statement issued in Abuja while reacting to recent comments by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka and President Bola Tinubu.
Mohammed said the APC was trying to avoid responsibility by blaming the PDP for the country’s economic challenges.
He said Nigerians deserve practical solutions to hunger, inflation and rising hardship instead of political excuses.
The PDP spokesman urged the Federal Government to focus on making food affordable, supporting farmers and boosting local food production.
He also asked the APC to explain how it plans to create jobs, improve security, fight corruption, provide stable electricity and reduce transportation costs.
Mohammed said although the PDP acknowledges some achievements of the Tinubu administration where necessary, it rejects attempts to blame previous PDP governments for the current economic situation.
He argued that after more than 10 years in power, the APC should be judged by its own policies, achievements and the living conditions of Nigerians.
According to him, history may provide context, but it cannot be used as a permanent excuse for present-day governance failures.
Mohammed expressed confidence that Nigerians would judge political parties by their records and said many citizens are looking to the PDP for better governance, improved living conditions and a more prosperous country.
