No fewer than 10 victims kidnapped in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been rescued by police operatives, following a coordinated operation with support from the military and the Department of State Services (DSS).
This was confirmed in a statement released Friday by the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan.
According to Hassan, the victims were abducted in May when a group of about 14 armed men stormed the Kushe Makaranta community and whisked several residents away to a remote forest near Rijana.
> “Upon receiving the distress report, the command launched an intensive manhunt for the criminals and increased patrol activities in the area,” he stated.
He noted that the sustained pressure mounted by security operatives forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee the area.
> “At about 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, our operatives successfully rescued all 10 victims, who were confirmed to be residents of Kushe Makaranta in Kagarko LGA,” Hassan added.
Following their rescue, the victims were taken to the Police Clinic for medical checks and observed for two days before being reunited with their families.
Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the personnel involved in the rescue for their commitment and professionalism.
He assured the public of the command’s unwavering determination to tackle insecurity and flush out criminal elements in the state.
> “We remain resolute in the fight against banditry and in ensuring the safety of all citizens in Kaduna State,” the commissioner affirmed.
