Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has walked out of Portugal’s national team training camp, promising to reveal the reasons behind his departure at a later date.
The Portugal captain announced his decision following a press conference by the national team coach and a direct conversation with Portuguese Football Federation President.
Ronaldo, however, did not disclose the details of the discussion or the circumstances that led to his exit, leaving the reasons for his departure unclear.
In a statement, the forward said he had decided to leave camp after the discussions, while assuring Portuguese supporters that he would eventually explain his decision.
“After the national team coach’s press conference, following a direct conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the training camp,” Ronaldo said.
The 41-year-old added that he would speak publicly about the circumstances surrounding his departure when the time was right.
“In due time, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself since the first day,” he stated.
Ronaldo also wished Portugal and his teammates well, expressing appreciation for those he has represented throughout his international career.
“Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates, without exceptions,” he added.
His promise to disclose the reasons for his departure has placed the circumstances surrounding his exit firmly in the spotlight, particularly as the forward has yet to offer further details about his conversation with the federation president.
Ronaldo remains Portugal’s all-time leading international goalscorer and one of the most influential figures in the country’s football history.
