The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Dr Jobson Ewalefoh as Director-General, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
His confirmation is sequel to the presentation and adoption of report of the Committee on Trade and Investment.
Presenting the report at plenary, Chairman of the Committee, Sen.Suleiman Sadiq (APC -Kwara) said that the committee invited and screened the nominee on July 17.
He said the nominee responded to questions on his qualifications, experience and was found suitable for appointment.
Ewalefoh had, while responding to questions at his screening, assured that he was poised to improve the operations of the Commission and improve investor confidence in the Private Public Partnership (PPP) ecosystem.
He emphasised the need for the inclusion of review clause in PPP agreements to ensure flexibility and sustainability of projects.
He equally spoke on the sanctity of contracts and the insistence on the adherence to contract provisions and clauses by all parties.
In his remark, after the confirmation, Senate President Godswill Akpabio thanked the committee for the report on the nominee.
He congratulated Ewalefoh and charged him to work selflessly to improve the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Ewalefoh is a professional with over two decades of experience in government and International Development Organisations.
He is an expertise in Public Sector Reforms, Public-Private Partnerships, Public Policy, Procurement and Development.
Until his appointment, Ewalefoh was the Director of Operations, in charge of the Public Private Partnership Resource Department at the ICRC.
He had previously served as the Director of the Contract Compliance Department (CCD), where he oversaw the Monitoring and Compliance of over 100 Concession Agreements in Energy, Port (wet and dry), Agriculture, Aviation, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), among others.
Ewalefoh holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Development Studies from the University of South Africa (UNISA), and Master degrees in Economics (MSc) from Enugu State University of Science and Technology.(NAN)
