Showbiz players count loses, bemoan year 2020

By AUSTIN FAIR-NWAULU, Lagos –

The year 2020 has unanimously been declared as the worst ever in the history of the entertainment industry in Nigeria. And this is coming from a majority of its players in an interview.

The year which remains barely two months to go, according to them, not only brought untold hardship to all but also dashed hopes and ambitions.

‘’You can’t be creative enough when you are confined to a place forcefully,’’ our first respondent said and he continued; ‘’In fact the situation became so messy that every creative ability was lost. There was fear, hunger and uncertainty in the land. To worsen everything, there was no movement, no performance, nothing with all the responsibilities.’’

To our second respondent, ‘’Covid.19 affected the showbiz players more than any other person. I repeat, no other sector suffered the peak of the deadly virus like entertainers. Not only in terms of monetary loses but all round. We live with proceeds from shows than album sales. And who even had time for music then.’’

In fact, almost all our respondents echoed the same thing. Then, as if that was not enough, another #Endsars crept in. ‘’This became the straw that broke the camel’s back. It simply came to take what remained of the year 2020. The prayer now is never again,’’ he concluded

Our investigations clearly revealed that no cadre of showbiz player was spared by the ruins of Covid19 and #EndSARS.
