Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II
President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, as he marks nine years on the ancient throne of his forebears.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President celebrated the monarch’s steadfast leadership and invaluable contributions to both the Benin Kingdom and the Nigerian nation.
Joining the people and government of Edo State, members of the royal household, and the Benin Traditional Council, President Tinubu applauded the Oba’s near-decade of impactful reign.
“The Oba has remained a symbol of unity, peace, and cultural pride,” the President noted, commending His Royal Majesty’s tireless efforts in addressing issues such as human trafficking and irregular migration among the youth.
He also praised the monarch’s cultural stewardship—particularly his advocacy for the repatriation of looted African artefacts and the promotion of time-honoured traditions.
Highlighting the significance of the milestone, President Tinubu described the Oba’s reign as one rooted in service, vision, and a deep commitment to preserving the heritage of the Benin people.
He concluded by offering prayers for the monarch’s continued strength, longevity, and further achievements as custodian of one of Africa’s most revered traditional institutions.
