The rescued victims
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 10 victims in separate operations across Zamfara State, including an intervention that disrupted a suspected terrorist abduction attempt along the Tsafe-Funtua road.
The operation was carried out by troops of Sector 2 on Sunday, September 27, following reports of an abduction in Maru Local Government Area and suspicious gunshots during a patrol in Tsafe Local Government Area.
At Kade Daba Village in Kanoma District, Maru LGA, troops received information that terrorists had attacked the community and taken away some villagers.
The soldiers quickly mobilised to the area, leading to the rescue of three victims. A further search around the location also led to the rescue of another person, bringing the number of victims freed in the operation to four.
In another operation along the Tsafe-Funtua road at Kwanoni, troops conducting a picketing operation heard gunshots ahead of their position and immediately moved towards the area.
The troops encountered the suspected terrorists withdrawing through the surrounding high ground and engaged them, forcing the criminals to retreat in confusion.
The intervention resulted in the rescue of additional victims, bringing the total number of people saved from the two operations to 10.
The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while troops have intensified patrols across the affected areas to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents and travellers.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said it remains committed to restoring peace and security in the North-West region through sustained operations against criminal elements.
