Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), recorded significant successes in separate operations conducted between 23 and 24 September 2026, thwarting a terrorist attack, recovering an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and arresting a suspected criminal in Kaduna State.
Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday
Lt. Col. Danja said: “On 23 September 2026, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible intelligence of terrorists movement through the bushes of Rijana, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, swiftly mobilised to the area, laid an ambush and engaged the terrorists on sighting.
“Following the engagement, troops conducted a follow-up exploitation of the general area, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, one magazine carrier and one military jungle hat, among other items.
He said in a separate operation on the same day, troops of Sector 1 conducted a clearance operation at Awom village in Kachia Local Government Area, aimed at denying terrorists and other criminal elements safe haven in the community.
During the operation, troops arrested a suspected criminal identified as Mr Jacob, who was found in possession of one fabricated pistol and seven rounds of ammunition. The suspect is currently in military custody, for further investigation.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism and prompt response during the operations.
He said the troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive and clearance operations to thwart terrorist activities, deny criminal elements freedom of action and protect communities within the Joint Operations Area.
