Vinícius Junior
Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has admitted he must improve his finishing after another frustrating night in front of goal, but the Brazilian remains confident his goals will soon return.
Vinícius stated this in a post on his Instagram handle, shortly after another game without a goal in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Elche on Tuesday.
“The goals will return. I cannot miss so many. Sunday, there will be more. Hala Madrid!” He said.
Vinicius had five attempts but managed just one on target.
His biggest opportunity came after the break when Arda Guler sent him through on goal. With only the goalkeeper to beat, Vinicius could not finish the chance.
He was taken off in the 68th minute, having again failed to find the net.
Guler and Kylian Mbappe had given Madrid a 2-0 lead before Elche fought back to level the game. Carlos Espi eventually rescued all three points with a late winner.
For Vinicius, the goal drought has now stretched to one goal in his last seven appearances across all competitions.
His “Sunday, there will be more” message was a reference to Madrid’s next game, an away clash with Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.
He posted the message with Linkin Park’s “One More Light” playing in the background. The post was later shared by Fabrizio Romano and had gathered more than 393,000 likes.
