Ahead of the 2023 general election and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign flag off in Ogoja LGA of Cross River State, the opposition political parties have continued to witness unprecedented gale of defection.
The latest is the defection of Elder Jacob Nkpeh Odey together with several of his friends, associates and followers from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC in Mbube East Ward I.
Receiving the decampees over the weekend at the party’s ward secretariat, the Chairman Cross River State Sports Commission, who doubles as the Director General of God’s Time Network (one of the largest political support groups in Cross River State) appreciated the decampees for taking that bold step to key into the main stream politics of the state.
He noted that their coming would not have been at a better time, noting that their votes for Governor Ben Ayade and other candidates of the party is a vote for emancipation. .
Earlier, the leader of the decampees, Elder Jacob Odey said his decision to decamp with his teeming supporters to the ruling party is based on the achievements of the digital governor of Cross River State.
He said he has taken time to analyze the political antecedents of the major political parties and have come to the conclusion that APC remains the only political party that is people’s friendly considering the number of appointments in this administration and the lifting of embargo on employment which will help young Cross Riverians to begin their life long careers.
The ward leadership used the opportunity to Inaugurate a 10-man 2023 ward election victory taskforce to ensure a resounding victory for all APC candidates.
