Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, placing former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in key leadership positions.
The party said the council would provide strategic direction for its nationwide campaign and coordinate political activities ahead of the 2027 polls.
According to a statement issued by the NDC, Senator Dickson will serve as Chairman of the National Campaign Council, while the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, will serve as Co-Chairman.
The National Chairman of the party and vice-presidential candidate, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, was named Vice Chairman, while Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will serve as Co Vice-Chairman.
The statement added that the party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as Council Secretary, while Mallam Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim was appointed Director-General of the campaign council.
The NDC said the council would provide strategic leadership, coordinate campaign activities across the country and mobilise Nigerians behind what it described as its vision of building “a new, just, and prosperous Nigeria.”
The party said the campaign would focus on issues affecting ordinary Nigerians and promote people-centred programmes throughout the electioneering period.
Calling for unity among its members and supporters, the NDC said, “We call on all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to remain united and focused as we work together to rescue our country.”
It added, “A new and working Nigeria is possible.”
The announcement comes as political parties continue to strengthen their structures and prepare campaign strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections, with alliances, mobilisation and policy debates expected to dominate the political landscape in the months ahead.
