President Bola Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has urged his supporters and Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and continue to promote his administration’s achievements ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement on Tuesday after meeting with the leadership and members of the City Boy Movement at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu thanked the group for standing by his administration since 2022 despite criticism over its economic reforms.
He said, “Since 2022, and for three years, you have defended this administration in the markets, on campuses, in motor parks and on social media, often when it was unpopular to do so.”
According to the President, the supporters understood “why difficult decisions had become necessary and why Nigeria could not keep borrowing to postpone them,” adding, “I have seen your commitment, and I will never forget it.”
Tinubu commended the movement for building what he described as “over 4.8 million verifiable members” across the country and praised the launch of “#AskCityBoy,” saying it uses “super intelligence to help Nigerians understand what their government is doing through simple, everyday conversation.”
He encouraged Nigerians, including critics of his government, to use the platform, saying, “I encourage every Nigerian, including our critics, to visit askcityboy.com and ask the questions that matter to you.”
Speaking on his administration’s programmes, Tinubu said NELFUND, CREDICORP and the 3MTT initiative were creating opportunities for students and young Nigerians, adding, “We will keep extending these opportunities.”
Looking ahead to the next election, the President urged supporters to “Get your PVC and encourage your neighbours to get theirs. Organise peacefully and lawfully. Take our record to Nigerians and make your case with conviction.”
He also praised his son, Seyi Tinubu, for supporting the movement, saying, “You have only started. There is much more you can do for our people, and I expect you to keep going.”
The meeting, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, focused on the administration’s economic reforms, youth participation in governance, inclusive leadership and sustaining grassroots support as political activities continue to build towards the 2027 general election.
