Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe and former Humanitarian Minister, Betta Edu
Co-Chair of the Directorate of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Dr. Betta Edu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 will usher in economic prosperity for Nigerians.
Edu said the country had passed through the difficult phase of economic reforms and was approaching a period when citizens would begin to reap the benefits of the policies introduced by the Tinubu administration.
She spoke in Kaduna on Thursday when she led members of the PCC Women Mobilisation Directorate on a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who chairs the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the APC presidential campaign flag-off in the state.
“We have gone through the reform phase already. Now it is time for prosperity. We are already at the gate of prosperity once President Tinubu is re-elected,” Edu said.
The former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation disclosed that the directorate was targeting nearly 40 million votes for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.
She, however, stressed that achieving the target would require sustained grassroots mobilisation and direct engagement with voters, particularly women, rather than relying solely on large crowds at political rallies.
“Our plan as the PCC mobilisation directorate is to see that we can mobilise at least close to 40 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we cannot do this without getting down to the grassroots,” she said.
Edu explained that the directorate would engage women in markets, communities and households to understand their concerns, identify their needs and communicate the achievements of the administration.
She urged APC women leaders and supporters in Kaduna State to intensify door-to-door campaigns and peaceful persuasion, insisting that political mobilisation should be based on engagement rather than intimidation or coercion.
The PCC official also commended Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for what she described as significant achievements in infrastructure and social service delivery, particularly road construction, public transportation and the revitalisation of primary healthcare facilities.
She equally praised Balarabe for breaking political barriers as the first elected female deputy governor in Northwest Nigeria, describing her emergence as an important milestone in women’s participation in political leadership.
Responding, the deputy governor assured the delegation that the state government and the LOC were committed to ensuring a successful presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.
Balarabe said several planning and coordination meetings had been held to prepare for the event, adding that Kaduna’s strategic position as the political capital of Northern Nigeria placed a significant responsibility on the state to demonstrate its organisational capacity.
“We try as much as possible to take any assignment given to us seriously,” she said.
She urged members of the PCC Women Mobilisation Directorate to work closely with the LOC and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the campaign rally.
Balarabe further challenged women leaders to sustain their mobilisation efforts beyond the flag-off, stressing that the ultimate goal was to convert political support into votes during the 2027 general elections.
“Our work as women is to tell all women to be on our side,” she said, urging the directorate to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the administration’s achievements to women at the grassroots.
The deputy governor expressed confidence that women across Kaduna State and the country could play a decisive role in securing victory for Tinubu and Shettima if they remained united and committed to the mobilisation drive.
The visit formed part of preparations for the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State, as the party intensifies efforts to build grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
