FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike during his visit to Edo State. He was received by Governor Monday Okpebholo and other government officials
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has cautioned Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo against probing his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki, urging him to focus on developing the state instead.
During a visit to the state, Wike emphasized that investigating Obaseki would yield no meaningful results.
Don’t Waste Time and Resources
“I know what I passed through, and how he paid me back is now in the past. We must pass through this process in life, move on for the development of Edo,” Wike said.
“If there is someone who would have encouraged Okpebholo to probe and prosecute Obaseki, that person should be me. However, don’t do it.”
Apology to Oshiomhole
Wike also apologized to Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of the state, for humiliating him during his support for Obaseki.
“Leader, I know how pained you are and what you passed through; I know it was like a humiliation to you. I was part of it because I humiliated you while supporting Obaseki.
“I apologized to you on national TV and I’m still saying sorry for what I did to you.”
Wike urged Okpebholo to concentrate on achieving his developmental goals for the people of Edo.
“Let Obaseki and his team carry their problems and go.
“Focus on the development of Edo and you will see what you will achieve at the end of the day,” he said.
