The arrested suspects
Delta State Police Command has recorded a series of operational successes across different parts of the state, rescuing a kidnapped victim, raiding a suspected criminal hideout, arresting 10 suspects and recovering a locally made firearm as well as suspected illicit drugs.
The operations, carried out in Agbor, Abbi and Oghara, form part of the command’s intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes across the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives attached to the Agbor Division successfully rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim during a coordinated operation at Alisime Village in Agbor.
Edafe explained that the rescue followed intelligence gathered after the victim was abducted.
He said on September 4, 2026, at about 6 p.m., police operatives, working alongside forest guards and local security personnel, stormed the area where the victim was being held.
The operation resulted in an exchange with the kidnappers, forcing them to flee into the bush with suspected gunshot wounds while the victim was rescued unhurt.
Security operatives also recovered a mobile phone and an ATM card believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.
The police said the area has since been secured, while a manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the kidnappers.
In a separate operation later that night, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Ozoro, raided a brothel in Abbi following intelligence that a suspect wanted in connection with an arson incident in Owhelogbo Community in August was hiding there.
During the raid, police arrested 10 suspects, comprising seven women and three men.
Items recovered from the premises included quantities of Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
The command said those arrested are currently being profiled and that anyone found to have committed any offence will be charged to court.
Also on September 4, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives attached to Oghara Division, in collaboration with a civilian anti-cult group, responded to a report of a fight involving about eight persons along Ibori Road in Oghara.
The suspects reportedly fled immediately they sighted the patrol team.
Police said one of the fleeing suspects, identified only by the alias “Highest,” threw away a locally made cut-to-size gun while escaping.
The firearm was recovered, while investigations are continuing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commending the officers and other security personnel involved in the operations, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, praised their professionalism and directed that efforts be intensified to track down all fleeing suspects.
He also reassured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven policing across the state.
“The command will continue to strengthen intelligence-led operations, raid identified criminal hideouts and sustain patrols across the State,” the commissioner said.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide the police with credible information that could aid the prevention and detection of crime.
