Kaduna State PDP Governorship candidate, Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa (ABG)
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has formally unveiled Hon. Shehu Bawa Usman, popularly known as ABG, as its candidate for the 2027 governorship election, with Hon. Amos Adamu Gandu (AAG) as his running mate.
The party also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of Governor Uba Sani of misgovernance, misplaced priorities and alleged neglect of education in the state.
The resolutions were contained in a communique issued at the end of the PDP Expanded State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the party’s state secretariat in Kaduna.
The communique, signed by the State Chairman, Chief Sir Edward Percy Masha, and the State Secretary, Hon. Hussaini G. Ahmad, said the party remained committed to rescuing Kaduna State from what it described as poor governance under the present administration.
At the meeting, Masha formally presented Bawa as the party’s 2027 governorship candidate and Gandu as his running mate, while calling on party members to unite and work towards victory in the forthcoming election.
He also commended Bawa for his commitment to grassroots mobilisation across the state and urged members to support the party’s candidates at all levels.
The SEC resolved that the PDP would remain “united and formidable” and work collectively to “rescue Kaduna State from misgovernance, lack of focus, and misplaced priorities under the present APC-led government.”
The party further condemned what it described as the continued neglect of the education sector, alleging that staff of Kaduna State University (KASU) were owed more than N800 million in entitlements.
The PDP also criticised the implementation of the state government’s budgets, citing the administration’s widely publicised N100 million allocation to each of the 255 wards as an example.
According to the communique, “the well-hyped N100 million per ward initiative has turned out to be a charade, as to date not a single kobo has been assigned to any of the 255 wards in the state.”
The opposition party, however, said it would conduct an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that it would not shy away from highlighting what it described as the “decay and failures” of the APC administration.
The SEC also congratulated all PDP candidates, appreciated the National Working Committee for what it described as “exemplary leadership,” and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to emerge as a credible alternative to the APC in Kaduna State.
