Borno State Government has sworn in 6 newly appointed members of the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) in a ceremony held on Wednesday at the Deputy Governor’s Council Chamber, Government House, Maiduguri.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, who was represented by his Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur. While Justice Babakura Tijjani Zanna, representing the State Chief Judge, administered the oath of office and allegiance to the appointees.
The newly sworn-in Members are: Yerima Abdulrahman, Bala Faliku (Mari Muta), Kashim Mustapha, Ali Kaka, Ali Mustapha Goni and Musa Malam Bulama
He said: “today is not simply a Ceremony of oath-taking.
“It is a solemn moment in the continuing journey of our state towards strengthening democratic institutions, deepening good governance and ensuring that the voice of every citizen is respected and given it’s rightful place in the affairs of government.
The governor also charged them members of the Borno State Independent Electroral Commission therefore marks another important milestone in our collective efforts to build institutions that are credible, independent, transparent and responsible to the aspirations of our people.
“I therefore urge the members of the Commission, to remember throughout your tenure that the oath you have taken today is an oath to the constitution, the laws of the land and the people of Borno State.
On behalf of the newly sworn-in members of the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC), Hon. Ali Kaka expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum.
He said: “In a few words, Your Excellency, I once again thank you most sincerely for having confidence in us to discharge this difficult and onerous responsibility, which is not easy. But with Allah’s help and guidance, we shall surmount the challenges and move our state forward.
