Two suspected bandits have been killed and a ransom of N10 million recovered after local hunters intercepted the kidnappers in Falgore Forest in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed that the operation followed the safe release of a kidnapped victim, Kabiru Aliyu, 45, who was freed unharmed after the ransom was paid.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
He said the victim was released on October 17, 2026, after the kidnappers collected the ransom from his family.
According to the statement, local hunters, popularly known as Yan Bula, tracked the suspects as they were returning to their hideout after collecting the money.
The hunters reportedly confronted the group, killing two of the suspected bandits during the operation.
Police said a third suspect escaped with injuries, while the entire N10 million ransom was recovered intact.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the bravery of the local hunters for their role in the operation.
He also directed security operatives to intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover any weapons in his possession.
The police added that the rescued victim was taken for medical examination before being reunited with his family.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to working with local security groups and residents to strengthen the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across Kano State.
