Martin Odegaard scored the decisive goal as Arsenal defeated Hull City 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium to open a six-point gap at the top of the Premier League table.
The Arsenal captain struck in the 72nd minute after reacting quickest to a rebound when Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis saved Noni Madueke’s initial effort. The goal proved enough to secure all three points in a tightly contested encounter.
Hull frustrated Arsenal for much of the game with a disciplined defensive display, while the Gunners struggled to convert several first-half opportunities. Kai Havertz wasted a one-on-one chance, while Christos Tzolis also failed to capitalize on promising openings.
Hull nearly stunned the league leaders when Elliot Stroud forced David Raya into an outstanding save before halftime, but Arsenal increased the pressure after the break.
Mikel Arteta’s side eventually found the breakthrough through Odegaard, whose goal ended a personal scoring drought and extended Arsenal’s impressive run at the summit of the Premier League.
The victory also marked Arsenal’s seventh clean sheet in their last 10 league matches, underlining their defensive strength as they continue their title chase.
Speaking after the match, Arteta praised his players for maintaining their intensity despite missing several chances.
“We had some big moments that we should have scored, but the performance and result were very important. We need to praise our players for the way they approach every game,” the Arsenal manager said.
The win puts added pressure on second-placed Manchester City, who now trail Arsenal by six points ahead of their fixture against Nottingham Forest.
