Executive Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon Chindo Gona

The Executive Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon Chindo Gona has decried the incessant killings in the local government, declaring that the locality is under siege.
Recall that Bassa Local Government has witnessed frequent attacks on its community within the last two months in which many lives were lost and a couple of maize farm were destroyed by the attackers.
Hon Gona in his remarks during a management meeting in his office, on Thursday evening said, “people of Bassa are daily faced with uncertainty”
A statement signed by the Information Officer of the Bassa LGA, Hudung Monday quoted the council boss, saying that he is displeased by the situation.
The statement reads, “Chairman of Bassa Local Government Council Chindo Gona has expressed dismay over incessant killings and distruction of lives of innocent citizens at kwall and environs.
“The chairman express his displeasure at an extraordinary meeting with the management of the council at the Secretariat in Bassa.
“He stressed that insecurity is a distabilizing factor to the delivery of dividends of democracy being one of the focal points of the rescue administration.
“He stated, that the people of Bassa are daily faced with uncertainty and is affecting socio-economic lives of the people”
The Chairman announced plans to inaugurate a standing committee on emergency disaster to go round the affected areas to ascertain the level of damage caused by the attackers with a view to mitigate the plight of the affected citizens.
Hon Chindo hinted that the disaster committee will be composed of people from Red cross, Fire Service , police, National Orientation Agency and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and DSS. Others are JNI, CAN, paramount rulers as well as other Management staff of the Council.
He, however, appealed for calm assuring the council is working with all security agencies to bring perpetrators of the evil act to justice and restore normalcy in the area.
