Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has approved the establishment of a Joint Security Task Force (JTF) to strengthen security coordination and improve rapid response to threats across Osun State.
The decision followed a State Security Council meeting chaired by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, where security chiefs reviewed recent security alerts and agreed on measures to safeguard lives and property.
According to the governor, the new task force will improve collaboration, intelligence sharing and quick response among security agencies operating in the state.
Adeleke said his administration would provide the logistics and other support required for the smooth take-off and effective operation of the JTF.
The governor also directed all security agencies in the state to remain on 24-hour alert in response to emerging security concerns.
He urged residents to be vigilant, especially around churches, mosques, schools and other public places, while encouraging them to report credible information to security agencies.
“We have also directed that our security agencies remain on 24-hour alert, while calling on residents to remain vigilant, particularly around churches, mosques, schools and other public places. I urge everyone to promptly share credible intelligence with the security agencies. Security is a collective responsibility, and timely information can save lives.”
Adeleke reassured residents that Osun remains peaceful and secure, stressing that his administration would continue to strengthen the capacity of security agencies and deepen collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
“Let me reassure the people of Osun that the state remains safe and secure. We will continue to empower our security agencies and work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders and all stakeholders to protect lives and property across the state.”
The governor also praised security commanders in the state for their commitment to protecting residents. He gave special commendation to the new Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, for what he described as his proactive approach to policing and security.
“I commend our security commanders for their dedication and, particularly, the new Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, for his proactive approach to policing and security in Osun.”
Adeleke expressed confidence that the collective efforts of government, security agencies and residents would continue to keep the state safe.
“Together, we will keep Osun safe.”
