NURTW Chairman in Osun, Mr. Olalekan Oyeyemi
Governor Ademola Adeleke has banned the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State following the killing of Mr. Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Ajagungbade Emir.
National Accord reports that Oyeyemi was shot dead on Sunday in Ile-Ife by suspected hoodlums during a violent clash over the control of a motor park in the ancient city.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor directed the Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest everyone involved in the killing and ensure they face justice.
Adeleke also ordered all warring factions to vacate motor parks across the state with immediate effect.
He further directed security agencies to restore normalcy and maintain law and order in all parks to prevent further violence.
To strengthen peace and improve the management of motor parks, the governor announced the reintroduction of a Park Management System across Osun State.
According to the statement, Governor Adeleke will issue an Executive Order to provide legal backing for the new Park Management System.
The state government said the measures are aimed at restoring peace, protecting lives and preventing further clashes over the control of motor parks.
