Nigeria's Falconets
Nigeria’s Falconets have qualified for the knockout stage of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland after a dominant 10-1 victory over New Caledonia.
The impressive win in Łódź secured Nigeria’s place in the next round of the competition. The Falconets finished the match with four points and moved into second place in Group F, behind Spain.
Ramotalahi Kareem and Winner Onajite David were the stars of the game, with both players scoring hat-tricks. Rebecca Adegbemile added two goals, while Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu also found the back of the net to complete the rout.
The result keeps Nigeria’s hopes of winning the tournament alive as the team prepares for the knockout phase.
Reacting to the qualification, the National Sports Commission congratulated the players, coaches and the entire technical crew for their outstanding performance.
The commission described the victory as a strong response from the team and expressed confidence in the Falconets’ ability to perform well in the next stage of the tournament.
It also wished the Nigerian side success as they continue their campaign in Poland.
