Armed men
Suspected bandits have abducted about six residents of Nurul Siraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna State, during a midnight raid that reportedly lasted into the early hours of the day.
The incident was said to have occurred between midnight and 1:00 a.m., with the assailants reportedly gaining entry into the estate through its second gate.
A source, who requested anonymity, told National Accord newspaper that both male and female residents were taken away during the attack.
“Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rajiun. Last night, kidnappers picked almost six people, both men and women, at Nurul Siraj Estate, Millennium City, Kaduna, through the second gate,” the source said.
The source called on security agencies to strengthen security in the area to prevent further attacks and appealed for prayers for the safe return of the abducted residents.
However, another account circulating on social media gave a different description of the incident, claiming that a family of four, comprising a father, mother and two children, alongside two neighbours, were abducted.
The account further alleged that at least 10 armed men invaded a house in search of a particular woman but, after failing to find her, abducted other members of the household and another family.
There were also unconfirmed reports that troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle during the incident, but the assailants allegedly escaped with some of their victims.
The circumstances surrounding the reported gun battle and the exact number of abducted residents could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
Neither the Kaduna State Government nor the relevant security agencies had issued an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
