ADC Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to Nigerians facing economic hardship and insecurity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the ballot as a tool for peaceful change.
Atiku made the call in a message shared on his official X account on Wednesday, where he acknowledged the struggles many families are facing across the country.
He said many Nigerians are currently worried about basic needs, including food, healthcare, transportation and housing, while security challenges continue to affect communities.
“My fellow Nigerians, young and old, I know the pain you are carrying,” Atiku said.

He added that many parents go to bed uncertain about how to provide for their children, while pensioners struggle between paying for medicines and buying food.
“Parents go to bed worried about what they will feed their children tomorrow. Pensioners must choose between buying medicine and buying food. Young people work hard, yet transport, rent and basic needs consume what they earn,” he said.
The former vice president also raised concerns over kidnapping, attacks and other security threats, saying families should not be forced to live with both hunger and fear.
“No family should have to face hunger and insecurity at the same time. We cannot allow this hardship and fear to become the future our children inherit,” Atiku stated.
He urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs and keep them ahead of the next general election, describing the document as a means for Nigerians to make their voices heard.
“If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change,” he said.
Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has remained active in national political discussions ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The former vice president criticised the current administration’s economic situation, blaming President Bola Tinubu’s policies for rising living costs.
“Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves,” he said.
Atiku called for unity among Nigerians across age groups, promising a country where families can live with dignity, safety and hope.
“Let us stand together, across generations, and vote for a Nigeria where every family can live with dignity, safety and hope,” he added.
