President Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi
Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala has criticised Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi over comments he alleged Obi made during an engagement with Nigerians in Manchester, United Kingdom.
In a post shared on his X account, Bwala accused Obi of encouraging Nigerians in the diaspora not to send money to their parents until the current administration leaves office.
Quoting what he claimed Obi said, Bwala wrote: “Even if your parents are dying, do not send them money until this government is voted out.”
The presidential spokesman described the alleged remark as “wicked” and claimed it suggested that political ambition was being placed above the welfare of parents and families.
Bwala further wrote: “Meaning that your parents should rather die than he (Peter Obi) loses the election (which he will never win though).”
He also alleged that the comment showed desperation ahead of the 2027 general election and accused Obi of endorsing the conduct of some of his supporters.
According to him, “By now this must be clear to the voters to know how desperate and wicked he is; but also that he is very aware of the bullish nature of the Obidients and that he implicitly endorses what they do.”
Bwala added: “His ambition is worth more than the life of our parents? Wow.”
Peter Obi had not publicly responded to Bwala’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
The exchange is the latest in a series of political attacks between members of the Tinubu administration and opposition figures as preparations for the 2027 general election continue.
