Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has participated in the inaugural meeting of the high-level Committee established pursuant to the directive of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to develop a comprehensive National Threat Assessment and Rolling Five-Year National Strategic Defence and Security Operations Plan.
Chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the meeting on 26 August 2026, brought together the Honourable Minister of Defence, Minister of State for Defence, National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, as well as Heads of Intelligence and Security Agencies.
The Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (Rtd), serves as the Committee’s Coordinator to provide the Secretariat.
The initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to a coordinated, proactive and forward-looking approach to national security, leveraging the collective expertise of Nigeria’s defence, intelligence and security institutions to strengthen strategic preparedness and enhance the nation’s capacity to effectively address evolving security challenges.
Air Marshal Aneke’s participation further underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to jointness, inter-agency collaboration and the strategic employment of air power in support of Nigeria’s national defence and security objectives.
