ARMSTRONG ALLAHMAGANI, Bauchi
Gombe State Police Command has commended youths in the state for exhibiting decorum and for restraining themselves from causing chaos in the state during the #EndSARS protests across the country which turned violent and led to loss of lives and destruction and looting of properties.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mary Malum, stated this in a statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Maikudi Shehu, and made available to NATIONAL ACCORD in Bauchi on Monday.
She said that: “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Maikudi Shehu, commend youths of Gombe State for displaying high level of responsibility, calmness, perseverance and restraint in the face of threats and calls from other quarters with deliberate falsehood and misinformation through the social media in the face of unwarranted provocation from other divisive elements hiding under the umbrella of ENDSARS protests currently going on in the Country.
“The Commissioner of Police would like to use this medium to appreciate the Gombe State Government for its support to the Police and other security agencies.”
Malum, a Superintendent of Police, said that it is however, very unfortunate that other interests hijacked these protests and are compounding the collective security in States.
“Sequel to this, the Commissioner of Police, advise all relevant critical stakeholders, parents and youths at various levels to continue to prevail on their wards and subjects to remain peaceful in this trying times and shun any act that will likely cause breach of the peace in the State,” she said.
She called on the public, particularly the residents of Gombe State, to continue to support the Police with useful information that will promote harmony and general security in the State.
