By TYAV SAM TYAV, Makurdi –
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has presented cheques worth N45,887,000 to 43 beneficiaries of the police welfare scheme.
Represented by the Benue State Police Commissioner, Steve Yabanet the IGP informed that, the money was given to families of deceased police officers to cushion the effect of the death of families members within the first one (1) year.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson PPRO Sewuese Catherine Anene quoted the OGP as sympathising with the beneficiaries, the IVP and advised them to invest these monies into businesses that would help them to become self reliant as they wait for other benefits from the force.
While responding the beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the IGP for remembering them within a very short time.
As they emphasized that it had not been easy in the past they also prayed God to bless the IGP to enable him continue to fight for the rights of police officers.
