The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State and nationwide.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, made the disclosure at the commission’s quarterly meeting with political parties in Abuja.
The CVR exercise in Anambra will commence on July 17 and will be conducted in 326 wards across the state. The registration will be open daily from 9 am to 3 pm, including weekends, until July 17.
During this period, new voters can register, and those who wish to transfer their registration or replace lost or the damaged Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) can apply for replacement.
The nationwide CVR exercise will commence on August 18, with online pre-registration starting on the same day. In-person registration will follow on August 25 and will be conducted simultaneously in all states, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and 774 Local Government Area offices nationwide.
Yakubu emphasized that voter registration and compilation of the voters’ register must be completed at least 90 days before the date fixed for any election, as provided by law.
The INEC Chairman encouraged interested eligible Nigerian citizens to take advantage of the registration exercise.
