Brazilian player, Joao Pedro
Joao Pedro has withdrawn from Brazil’s squad after picking up an injury.
Fabrizio Romano reported the development on Wednesday, quoting a statement from the Brazilian Football Confederation which confirmed that the Chelsea forward had been ruled out of the team’s upcoming matches.
Pedro will remain in London to continue his recovery under Chelsea’s medical staff.
The timing is a setback for Enzo Maresca, with Pedro currently Chelsea’s most productive attacker since his move from Brighton in July, having scored seven goals.
Chelsea are already without Liam Delap through injury, while Nicolas Jackson is on loan and Cole Palmer is only returning to full fitness.
Pedro’s withdrawal also leaves Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti without one of his attacking options for the upcoming fixtures.
A replacement is expected to be named within the next 24 hours.
No timeline has been given for Pedro’s return.
