Former President Goodluck Jonathan has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late secondary school classmate, Mrs. Keturah Koweletam Ominabo, describing her as a woman of exceptional character whose life was marked by faith, service and compassion.
Jonathan joined members of the Ominabo family, friends, well-wishers and former students of Mater Dei High School, Imiringi, Class of 1975, at a funeral Mass held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Imiringi, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, to honour the deceased.
Reflecting on their years together in school, the former president said Ominabo’s admirable qualities were evident from an early age and remained consistent throughout her life.
“Keturah lived a life worthy of emulation. As a devout Christian, morally upright woman, youth counsellor, and dedicated teacher, she touched many lives with her kindness, wisdom, and commitment to the wellbeing of others. These qualities were already evident during our school days and continued to define her life and service to her community,” Jonathan said.
He noted that it was especially meaningful to join members of the bereaved family, including Ominabo’s son, Wealth Dickson, who serves as one of his aides, in praying for the peaceful repose of her soul.
“It was particularly meaningful to be with members of her family, including her son, Wealth Dickson, who serves as my aide, as we joined together in prayer for the peaceful repose of her soul,” he stated.
Jonathan offered prayers for God’s comfort and strength for the family, friends, former students and all those grieving the late educator, while expressing hope that her legacy of integrity and service would continue to inspire generations.
“As we bid farewell to our dear classmate and friend, I pray that Almighty God grants her eternal rest and gives the Ominabo family, her friends, former students, and all who mourn her passing the strength and comfort to bear this great loss.
“May her memory remain a blessing, and may the values she embodied continue to inspire those whose lives she touched,” the former president added.
