Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two people after bandits attacked travellers along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Zamfara State.
The incident occurred on September 4, 2026, while troops deployed in Anka Local Government Area were on patrol.
According to the Nigerian Army, the soldiers spotted armed bandits attacking two people travelling on a motorcycle and quickly moved to the scene.
The attackers fled into the surrounding terrain as the troops closed in, leaving their victims behind.
The army said the two travellers were subsequently rescued by the soldiers.
It said the swift intervention prevented the attack from turning into another abduction along the route, while troops have since stepped up patrols in the area to keep the attackers from returning and protect other road users.
